RUNES Publication Receives TIEMS 2007 Best Paper Award

A paper authored by researchers from RUNES partners Kodak European Research (J. Piper) and UCL (L. Hanna, S. Hailes, and K. Koumpis) in collaboration with researchers from the Safety and Ergonomics Research Institute of Loughborough University (A. May and V Mitchell) won the Best Paper Award of the 14th annual conference of The International Emergency Management Society (TIEMS), which took place in Croatia from June 5th to 8th 2007. One of the main goals of this year's conference was to evaluate the application of technologies to support knowledge management, logistics, monitoring, notification and decision support. The RUNES paper was entitled 'Opportunities and Challenges for Configurable Sensor Networks for Enabling Effective Fire-in-Tunnel Response'and attracted significant interest due to the novel use of reconfiguration of sensor networks. The authors are planning to publish more recent results as a journal article.
