RUNES
Reconfigurable Ubiquitous Networked Embedded Systems

A representative of the RUNES project was recently invited to present on the work of the project at the MESA (Mobility for Emergency and Safety Applications) meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland during their meeting 25-28 October 2005. MESA is an international collaborative project aimed at co-ordinating and developing specifications and standards for digital mobile broadband technology for use in public safety and public protection applications. The project is supported by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and the North American Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).

The aims of MESA have significant harmony with the RUNES work investigations of the road tunnel fire disaster scenario and it is hoped that the two projects will be able to find mutual benefit in working together. More information on MESA can be found at www.projectmesa.org.
