RUNES
Reconfigurable Ubiquitous Networked Embedded Systems

Seminar on Generic Modeling Environment (GME)

Dipartimento of Elettronica e Informazione
Politecnico di Milano
Directions are available here.

Thursday 6 October 2005

The aim of this seminar is to familiarize the interested audience with the method of developing RUNES components according to Model Based Methodologies by applying the freely available GME tool set.

Lecturers: Gabor Batori and Zoltan Theisz, Ericsson Hungary Ltd.

Programme:

09:00-10:00: Introduction to Model Based Software Development and GME

This section, first gives a short introduction to Model Driven Architecture (MDA), then explains the usage of GME as a tool which implements a particular set of MDA concepts to e.g. problem analysis, automatic code generation.

10:00-11:00 GME meta-modeling concepts

Detailed explanation of the modeling facilities of GME.

11:00-11:30 Coffee Break

11:30-12:30 Getting Started with GME, Short Tutorial

A short tutorial that goes through a sample application enumerating the necessary steps to create the meta-model and the corresponding model of the sample application. During the tutorial the audience will have the opportunity to learn about the basic elements of GME.

12:30-13:30 Lunch

13:30-14:30 RUNES middleware meta-model and a sample application

After a short demonstration of the meta-model of the future RUNES middleware, the participants will be shown the simplicity of developing RUNES applications via a sample application.

14:30-15:00 Coffee Break

15:00-16:00 Model Transformation Tutorial

Presentation of the GME code generation showing the necessary steps to produce a meta-model based translator in GME.

16:00-16:30 Q&A Session

Any remaining questions will be discussed.

Requirements:

The GME runs only on Windows platform, therefore a laptop running Windows would be required to make best use of the seminar.
